The researchers examined the patients on a daily basis and they discovered that even though there was no major difference in terms of the total burn surface area, there was a major difference in terms of the wound healing process and the hospitalization period. The study concluded that patients who were offered with olive oil managed to accelerate their wound healing processes and reduce the duration of their hospitalization as well.

The use of olive oil as a skin care ingredient was also supported by a study conducted by a group of researchers working for the Rockstock University (Germany) and the Tel Aviv University (Israel) in the year 2010. This study had shown that polyphenols are extremely effective in neutralizing and repairing the damage caused by the free radicals present in sun damaged skin.
